Brunton type Transitional Otoscope with full accessories in fitted case. Following the appearance of the first Brunton otoscope (see M-556 ) in 1883, this example shows the modification of about 1895 to accommodate electric illumination. It is not signed having only the words ‘patent applied for’ on one accessory. The case however has a ribbon in the lid with the name of the American Endoscopic Co. of Providence, Rhode Island. Accessories include metal tongue depressor and small mirror both with provision for illumination.
